How much did you have to sink into the ground?

Beautiful! 1 quick question. Did you screw the wood together off center? Otherwise the finial would not be able to be centered, right? The previous screw would be in the way? Thanks!!

I know I'm not Whitney, but if you look at the picture closely, you can see four small nails holding the top on. I'm sure there are four more under that piece. That leaves room for the finial to be added in the center. Hope that helps!

I'm so excited to have found you ladies. Thank you for this site I look forward to learning and incorporating this in my home. I just bought my dream home in Colorado Mountains. I needed a marker and this is my version, I modified the top. I purchased a light from Home Depot for $4.99

I look forward to trying many more from you!

Do you recall what size hook AND basket you used? It seems like the most common sizes for hooks are 6\", 9\", and 12\" I love how the dimensions of yours \"fits\" well and was wondering the length. Corresponding with that, what size of basket did you purchase? 12\" or 14\"? Thank you for your post and for your time!

What size finial is that? I live in a very small town, so I do not have a Home Depot/Lowe's around here. I can get the wood, but I need to get the finial on-line. Can you tell me what size it is? Thanks!

Did you mount in concrete?

Nope! Just dirt... But I am in Texas with tough clay dirt. You may find concrete a better option ;-)

Hi. I made one of these except in the style of your welcome sign post. I was trying to make it mobile. However I didn't even think about it needing to be weighted down due to the plant tipping it over. Do you have any ideas on how to make one but weighted down so that you wouldn't have to dig into the ground to place it? I thought about drilling holes in the bottom and pouring concrete into them, but I've never worked with concrete and I don't know if it would crack the wood or just not work well. I appreciate your time. And I love all your projects!! Have made several things from your site. (Welcome post, mail sorter, farm style table, now this). Thanks.

Hi there! This is beautiful, and I am planning on making one for myself, and also for my mom for Mother's Day! Quick question though: I am worried about getting this in the ground. How did you go about getting yours in the ground? It would be in a mulch garden bed, so I am not sure how to go about this. Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated!

This is gorgeous, we are taking this post and adding our own twist by making it into our new mailbox post! SO beautiful, thank you for sharing!!

Love this idea!! I'm going to use the full length of the post & hang a hummingbird feeder from the plant hanger. A taller post will be more visible in the area I need to put it.

I LOVE this!

What length did you have them cut the post?

I may need to open a Home Depot CC... Your projects are so inspiring! I've only been lucky enough to try the $20 shelves but I'm hoping to try this one next, or next to next...

OMG, I Love this and can't wait to do one of my own!!!! Thank you for sharing this post!

Okay, now that is three projects I HAVE to do this weekend, curtains, spice rack, and address post!! I LOVE IT!! I live in the country and the number one complaint is no one can see my address. Problem solved! Thank you!

Very nice. Pinned it!

Love it! Pined it! Will be making this as a house warming gift for my aunt and sister and one for myself! Thanks for the share!

Love it! I'll be making my own soon!

Love this idea! Gave me some ideas for my own house to go with the outside style decor I have going on.

omgravy! i absolutely love this!!! off to lowe's first thing tomorrow! tfs!

Hey guys!

Happy Wednesday!

I have a really fun and simple way of displaying your address number outside your home! Here is how mine turned out…

How fun is that??

This is super easy to make! I found all of the supplies, including my flowers at Lowe’s!

Let’s get started!

Start with a 4x4x8 piece of wood from Lowe’s. These are about $10 a piece and sometimes I have the guys at the hardware store cut mine for me to make it easier to carry and get home. Plus… It saves me a step My post is 48\u2033 long. A small handsaw will cut it in half easily too! Just takes a little elbow grease One post will make 2 of these signs, so you may want to make one with a friend, as a gift or make a water hose holder!

You will also need 2 other pieces of wood. I was able to use scraps for mine.

Next, I used my drill to put a screw through both pieces and into my post like this. I also used Gorilla Wood Glue in between each piece.

Now for the finial!

I find these on the wood aisle at Lowe’s next to dowels.

Drill a small hole and put it on the top like this! Now I gave the whole thing a coat of my very fav…

Rust-Oleum Ultimate Wood Stain in Dark Walnut

And to protect the finish I added 2 coats of Rust-Oleum Spar Varnish after the stain dried!

My final step was adding the numbers and plant hook! I found these cuties at Lowe’s for about $4 a piece. They had other finishes as well. The plant hook is also from Lowe’s. It was around $5 in the garden section… Woohoo!

I lined them up and attached them to the post using the screws that came with them… Easy peasy! I dug an 18\u2033 hole in the ground to put my post and then added a cute planter from Lowe’s! I filled mine with Sun Coleus and sweet potato vine… LOVE!

And here is how she turned out…

What do you think?? I LOVE it! It makes me happy when I drive up to my house

I hope you love it too!

I would LOVE for you to share this and PIN it with your peeps below!!

Have an awesome day and let me know if you have any questions!

~Whitney

What a wonderful idea to keep track of your child's growth. No more writing on the wall - you simply hang your Growth Chart 6 inches from the floor (saw-tooth hanger included) and begin making those lasting memories.

______________________________________________

Our Growth Charts are made from the best 1x6 pine boards we can find. We hand stain each using danish oil. The individual marks on the board are precisely measured and carefully burned directly into the wood. Once those steps are complete we use a high grade vinyl to create the numbers that are applied directly to the wood and sealed for extra protection.

______________________________________________

We use 2 coats of Danish Oil stain on our growth charts (as seen in the photos) – if you would like your growth chart darker please let us know and we can accommodate that request by applying two additional coats of Danish Oil –

Please Note*** we use a Danish Oil stain - it may appear lighter/darker upon arrival. We cannot control the way the stain is accepted by the wood therefore it may appear slightly different than the images seen here. Thank you.

______________________________________________

Upgrade your Growth Chart by adding one of the following options:

Wine Bottle DIY’s

Wine Bottle DIY’s

Wine Bottle DIY’s

Love the ideas! Especially the one with the little cacti :)

Thanks! That’s my favorite one too!

Let’s be honest for a minute. We all know that with the hot summer days and endless warm nights we all like to enjoy a few beverages than we normally would in the winter months, and I am no exception to this rule. There is something so refreshing about a cool beer at a BBQ, a tropical margarita at a pool party, warm coffee and Baileys by the campfire or a crisp white wine on a lakefront patio. But with all the extra consumption leaves empty bottles lying around destined for the recycling plant. So why not re-purpose those containers into something more useful that doesn’t remind you of your headache and sudden allergy to bright lights? I live in the beautiful Okanagan surrounded by countless wineries and I cannot turn down a good Ehrenfelser or Reisling, not to mention to experience that comes with it. Walking through lush vineyards, sampling fresh wines, soaking up sunshine and spending time with friends on a wine tour is practically ingrained in my summer DNA. So I decided to get my craft on and I rounded up some of my favorite DIY craft ideas for re-loving these beautiful little bottles.

Bottoms up!!

Let us celebrate the occasion with wine and sweet words.~Plautus

Wine bottle candle-lamps- Classy (and recycled!)

Wine bottle candle-lamps- Classy (and recycled!)

Wine bottle candle-lamps- Classy (and recycled!)

Wow. These are a long way from the drinking glasses I used to make from old bottles back 20 years ago!

Yeah- half the one’s I used to make would leave you with no lips! lol….well, not THAT bad…

Old wine bottles can also be made into bird feeders by cutting a hole in the side and sanding the edge of the hole, and drilling several small drain holes at the bottom. i have one, but the side hole was already in it when i got it, so i don’t know how you would cut it ???

Two posts today, so as to make up for being MIA the last two days (been sick as a junkyard dawg- the flu).

I’m slowly working/plotting/stock-piling/hoarding (call it what you will!) materials for an eventually-to-be-constructed tree house (a BIG adult one) that my neighbor and I might jointly go in together on- over on his property. In anycase, I came across David Guilfoose’s work and site http://www.greenwinebottles.com, and thought “I must have those lamps!”. They could also be converted, easily enough, into actual electric/bulb lamps- which might be the route I go.

Wine bottle candle-lamps- Classy (and recycled!)

His work is great, and the idea and message are even greater. I’ve messed around a little myself with glass cutting, and wine bottle reconfiguring- even wine bottle construction (Windows- see “Tiny Yellow House” Episode #2 on youtube.com) -and its no easy task, as glass is so unforgiving.

I DO wish, however, that David might offer up some wine bottle shoe horns, or wine bottle back scratchers, as I do feel there’s a fortune to be made in that arena…. ‘How bout wine bottle kazoos? No, in all seriousness, check out the man’s site, as he might be teaming with us on a future edition of the show where I’d showcase his lamps- which we’re very pleased about, as we always can use ANY help, whether it be ideas, product/props (decor, etc), or small sponsorships. ‘Them cameras, jibs, n’ CGI explosions don’t pay for themselves…

Solar Burrito’s Still at It! Cabin/Tiny House Update

There are a million blogs out there, and about one hundred or so that I really dig, and THIS is from one that I always check back to from time to time…..So, having not seen the site in a little while, I was pleased to return and find that Solar Burrito’s Cabin (once on the site of his old (r.i.p. yurt)) is now nearing completion. A great looking little cabin too!

Show the man some love- check out his videos/blog at: http://solarburrito.wordpress.com/

Solar Burrito's Cabin on the West Coast

I DO hope that we get to see a film/tour of the cabin when its finally entirely done….

This cool/unique-concept video was also posted on the “Burrito Blog”- something I had never considered, but that is ingeniously simple…
